Meet Dr. Patel

Dr. PatelDr. Patel was born and raised in Gujarat, India. After completing his undergraduate degree in 2011, he relocated to United States in 2012 to pursue dental school training. He  was one of eight international students to be accepted into the class out of 400+ international applicants, and subsequently graduated in 2015. His love for oral and maxillofacial surgery lead him to complete internship training at two prestigious programs in the United States – University of Michigan and University of Maryland. He stayed in Baltimore and completed four years of residency training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center. While in residency, Dr. Patel was trained in anesthesiology, medicine as well as general surgery in addition to a full-scope of oral maxillofacial surgery, including dentaoalveolar surgery, implantology and head & neck pathology. He was also blessed to train with maxillofacial surgeons that covered facial trauma at the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland, which was founded by Dr. R. Adams Cowley, a pioneer in modern trauma surgery & medicine.

After completion of his residency training, Dr. Patel moved to Halifax, where he was accepted as a surgical fellow in the department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Dalhousie University/Nova Scotia Health Authority. His fellowship training was focused on corrective jaw surgery, but he also received training in management of temporomandibular joint disorders and cleft deformities. While finishing his fellowship, Manan successfully passed the National Dental Specialty Examinations and has earned fellowship status with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.

Dr. Patel is focused on patient-centered care, and as such, he is always looking to improve himself by sharpening his skills and knowledge by attending continuing education courses around North America. When away from from the office, he enjoys exploring the restaurants and breweries around the city of Winnipeg, as well as hiking and chess. Since moving to Canada, he has also found a new love for the game of golf. He is also an avid sports fan, and loves watching various sports events throughout the year, especially the ones involving his beloved teams – Manchester United and Michigan Wolverines.
